  • Jennifer R. says: I live here and I never want to leave. I live on post in newer housing; pretty houses! Your really gonna love Savannah. To be honest the school districts I heard they suck :x my son attends Pulaski elementary and it's ok but I wish I could afford better schooling for him they just made this school on base which is much much better then it looked off base hope this helps you.

  • Jillian G. says: Oh my gosh! Hunter is SO much nicer than Ft. Stewart (where I am...45 min away but still attached to HAAF) It is small though. Most of the houses on post are very nice over there (I think there's only one bad neighborhood) the rest is new housing! And main gate is seriously right there next to the biggest mall (Oglethorpe) in Savannah. You are right in the heart of the city. There's plenty of nice neighborhoods back there near the back gate (by Target and Savannah Mall). I'm not certain on the school districts though as my kids are too little for school right now. I would call and check with Balfour Beatty to see if there's a waiting list for housing and then look around at houses and see what you prefer. The wait lists can get super long!

  • Meagan W. says: I lived there a couple of years ago and actually cried when I left. I LOVED it and miss it so bad. We lived out on Whitemarsh Island. It's 20 min from base and 15 to the beach. I am not sure about the schools because when we lived there we didn't have kids school age. If you are going to live off of base some of the best advice that we got was to not live on the numbered streets. ;)

  • Princess K. says: I lived there as well. We lived on post. The area is beautiful and it's only a few hours to Florida beaches. When we were there we lived in old housing but they were building new ones. When I was there my kids were small so I can't help as far as schools go.
